Job Description

The Senior Communications Associate is responsible for advancing the development and implementation of communication strategies to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with company goals and values. This role involves crafting internal messages, managing channels such as the intranet, email, and employee newsletters, supporting leadership in delivering key updates, and fostering a positive workplace culture. You will also be involved in supporting external communications initiatives, helping to maintain consistent messaging and positive relationships with stakeholders outside the organisation through media outreach and other external channels such as social media. 

This role requires a ‘can-do’ attitude and someone who is a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills who can assess communication effectiveness, gather feedback, and collaborate with various departments to ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and timely. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating, editing, and distribution of internal and external communications materials. 
  • Implementation of communication plans and activities, including graphic design and social media post creation as needed.  
  • Collaborating with team members and other departments to ensure information is accurate, relevant and aligned. 
  • Maintaining and updating internal and external communication channels and tools (i.e. intranet and abbvie.com.au / abbvie.co.nz) 
  • Analysing communications metrics and feedback to assess impact and effectiveness of communication initiatives and recommend improvements.  
  • Coordinating team meetings, schedules, and administrative tasks.  
  • Supporting employee engagement activities such as AbbVie’s Give Back program.   
  • Delivering messages across multiple channels to reach diverse audiences.  
  • Maintaining basic knowledge of relevant industry standards or codes (e.g., Medicines Australia Code or New Zealand Medicines Code).   
  • Being open to learning and further developing communications and digital skills. 
  • Other projects as directed by the Head of Communications and Director of External Affairs and Policy. 
  • Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per AbbVie’s policies and procedures. 
  • Proactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all times. 
  • Adhere to AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes. 
  • Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested.
